The Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) and Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia (PUC) have signed MOU for an international cooperation and exchange program in 2007. CIEE brings group of American university students (age 20-22) to study at PUC. The group of 6 students will arrive in Phnom Penh for the summer program, on June 14, 2014, and depart on 17 July 2014.
PUC students are invited to apply for an opportunity to participate in the Homestay Program. American students will be placed in Cambodian families for two weeks to live with their host families for cultural exchange and language practice. The American students are expected to participate fully in all aspects of family life, by helping with household work, eating Cambodian food, and taking part in family activities.
Families should meet the following criteria to participate:
1) Family should include at least one child who is a university student
2) Family should be willing to help students practice the Khmer language and learn about Cambodian culture
3) Family provide a separate sleeping space or share (bed) regarding to gender and study area
for the students
4) Family should help students integrate into family life, and provide opportunities to share household
responsibilities
5) Family should invite the student to eat a family dinner together every night during the Homestay period
(either at home or outside)
CIEE will provide some financial assistance to families who help them participate in this cultural exchange program. For more information and to receive an Application Form, please contact the PUC Office of International Study Program.
