Program Overview: The Bachelor of Early Childhood Education is a comprehensive four-year program designed to provide students with the theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and pedagogical competencies necessary for working with young children. This program consists of 10 foundation courses, 11 functional courses, 11 pre-major courses, and 11 major courses, totaling 130 credits. The curriculum focuses on child development, pedagogy, classroom management, and early childhood education leadership.
Year I: Foundation Year Courses The first year introduces students to essential subjects such as English proficiency, cultural studies, computer literacy, and early childhood education foundations.
Year II: Functional and Institutional Courses This year focuses on core subjects that enhance students’ understanding of child development, pedagogy, and foundational sciences.
Year III: Pre-Major Courses This stage emphasizes educational pedagogy, creative learning strategies, and assessment techniques in early childhood education.
Year IV: Major Courses The final year integrates research, teaching practice, and advanced education management topics to prepare students for professional roles in ECE.
Graduation Path: Students can specialize in either Teaching in ECE or Management in ECE by choosing one of the following options:
Option 1: Teaching in ECE
- EDUC 420 - Technology in ECE (3 credits)
- EDUC 421 - Early Intervention in Special Education (3 credits)
- EDUC 422 - Designing Preschool Teaching and Learning Materials (3 credits)
- EDUC 423 - Integrated Approaches to Teaching and Learning (3 credits)
Option 2: Management in ECE
- EDUC 430 - Leadership, Management, and Entrepreneurship in ECE (3 credits)
- EDUC 431 - ECE Curriculum Development (3 credits)
- EDUC 432 - Financial Management in Preschools (3 credits)
- EDUC 433 - Monitoring and Evaluation in Preschools (3 credits)
Total Credits for Graduation: 130
Career Opportunities: Graduates of this program can pursue careers as preschool teachers, curriculum developers, early childhood education administrators, or policy makers in educational institutions. The program also prepares students for further studies in early childhood education and related fields.
